Thanks to the Rev. Linda Trumbo who brought the morning message this past Sunday, Oct 15, at High Bridge Presbyterian Church.
Margie Anderson of Big Island will be the guest speaker this coming Sunday. There will be a congregational meeting after church to elect a nominating committee for church officers class of 2026. Also, the pastor-nominating committee will present a recommendation for approval by the congregation.
Weekday Religious Education will be hosting a themed basket bingo (a total of 12 baskets) on Nov. 4 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Natural Bridge Volunteer Fire Department. This will include bingo, a bake sale and door prizes.
The children’s ministry leader, Donna Lotts, has scheduled a “trunk or treat” for Sunday, Oct. 29, after morning worship. Lunch will be provided for the children and volunteers are needed to decorate and supply treats.
On Thursday, Oct. 26, at 7 pm, there will be small church gathering with Bible study leader Joe Hawes. This will probably be the last study for the year.
The Natural Bridge Ruritan Club Halloween raffle/ cakewalk will be held at the Natural Bridge firehouse on Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. The Women’s Auxiliary will sell meals at the event.
High Bridge members who traveled this past autumn include Garnette Teass (Australia), Nancy Johnston (New Zealand), Brad and Susan Englander (Italy) and Mark and Annie Pennington (Niagara Falls, Toronto).
Our church mourns the loss of our oldest member, Cora Lewis, who passed away Oct. 7 at her home. She was 100 years old. Memorial services are pending.
Our surrounding area mourns the loss of Lannie Ballard, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, at his home. The memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, at Faith Baptist Church where Lannie had led the weekly morning prayer breakfast for years. Lannie will be remembered also as “the bee man” and was featured two weeks ago in The News-Gazette with wife Loretta.
The Natural Bridge/Glasgow food pantry board members will meet Monday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. at Beth Horan United Methodist Church. At this meeting, plans will be made for Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions. All supporting churches are encouraged to send their voting representatives. Guests are always welcome.
The Natural Bridge/Glasgow food pantry will be open Thursday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon.
