For Burant

Oct. 13, 2023 Editor, The News-Gazette: I am writing in support of Kathy Burant as a representative for the Natural Bridge District on the Rockbridge County School Board.

I have known Kathy for many years and have always admired her values and commitment to Rockbridge County Public Schools as well as to the community.

During the last four years, she has served on the Board which has initiated renovations and program upgrades of Career & Technical Education (CTE); created work-based learning partnerships with the schools and business community; improved the safety and security of our students and staff; provided alternative learning opportunities for our students; and managed our budget to be able to offer competitive salaries and benefits for our staff.

Kathy works with the Board while maintaining her own individual points of view when it comes to serving the children and staff of RCPS and the community. As a School Board member, I find Ms. Burant to be knowledgeable of what is needed to provide an up-to-date education for our students, provide educational learning opportunities for our staff, and the gumption to follow through with her promises and ideas. As an individual, I find Ms. Burant to be sincere and committed to the community and to its growth.
