Friday, Oct. 20 -- The Parry McCluer High School volleyball team has earned the No. 2 seed in next week's Pioneer District tournament.
The Fighting Blues will receive a quarterfinal bye and will play host to a semifinal matchup at 6 p.m. Tuesday. PM will face the winner of Monday's quarterfinal between third-seeded Eastern Montgomery and sixth-seeded Highland County.
The Blues will play again at 6 p.m. Thursday in either the district championship or the consolation match. Tuesday's other semifinal will feature top seed Bath County against either No. 4 seed Narrows or fifth-seeded Craig County.
PM closed out the regular season on a roll, winning its last seven Pioneer matches to finish at 8-2 in district play and 8-8 overall. The Blues won 3-1 at regular-season champion Bath on Monday, handing the Chargers their first district loss of the season.
The Blues split their regular-season series with EastMont, with each team winning 3-0 at home. PM swept a pair of best-of-three matches at Highland on Oct. 12.
