Editor, The News-Gazette: Kathy Burant and I met over 30 years ago as teachers in the first Rockbridge/Virginia Tech Masters of Education cohort. Later, we were both involved parents of Rockbridge County High athletes. From the start, I admired Kathy’s enthusiasm and dedication.
Kathy’s commitment to quality education and devotion to Rockbridge is ongoing. Her involvement with career and technical education (CTE), both here and in Stafford County (where she served as director of CTE), is a tremendous asset to our area.
During the last four years, Kathy has worked diligently with work-based learning partnerships between the schools and local businesses and assisting with renovations and program upgrades to the CTE program. In addition, she worked on providing students with alternative learning opportunities and advocated for competitive staff salaries and benefits and improving school safety and security.
I concur with her belief in a strong reading program, learning experiences outside of the traditional classroom and promoting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) for encouraging critical thinking.
As a Natural Bridge District resident, we are lucky to have someone of Kathy Burant’s caliber represent us on the school board and wholeheartedly endorse her. BECKY HERNDON Glasgow -Editor, News-Gazette: I am writing to support Kathy Burant in her endeavor to once again serve on the Rockbridge County School Board as the representative of the Natural Bridge District.
Kathy is a professional in every way, and a proponent of increased student success through STEAM programs, a strong reading background, and newly updated career and technical training.
A dear friend and fellow parishioner, I have been able to follow all that Kathy has done since returning to Rockbridge County in 2014. A wonderful leader, she has involved herself in ensuring that all schools have school resource officers, that updated safety measures be implemented in every school in the county, and that the renovations to the Rockbridge Innovation Center are implemented and seen through completion. She works many hours visiting schools, attending meetings, and researching for the good of the students and community.
How lucky we would be to have her serve another term on the School Board! SUSAN SERRA Rockbridge County - Editor, The News-Gazette: We are writing in support of Kathy Burant as our representative for the Natural Bridge School District on the Rockbridge County School Board.
During the past four years, she has worked hard to serve our children and staff at Rockbridge County Public Schools, especially during the pandemic, to protect the students and staff while maintaining educational progress.
She is a great believer in Career and Technical Education (CTE) to provide the opportunity for training and to teach skills to all students that will serve them well for a lifetime. Kathy has dedicated her career to education and providing an opportunity to all students to ensure their successful future.
We urge the voters of the Natural Bridge District to cast your vote for and support Kathy Burant for our School Board Representative. BOYD and LINDA WALKER Glasgow
