Sheridan House, Hope House Updates Given
Lexington City Council received updates from City Manager Jim Halasz on the situation with the Sheridan House at 201 N. Randolph St. and the HOPE House sober living facility at its regular meeting on Oct. 19.
Halasz informed Council that the owner of the Sheridan House, Chy Clark, has procured a contractor for the demolition and the contractor has acquired a demolition permit from the city and intends to begin working on demolishing the house this week.
“It’s maybe taken a little longer than some of us would have liked, but it can be pretty tough sometimes to move these issues forward a lot faster than has occurred,” he said. “We’ve made good progress and I do believe that work will start, and we will still be monitoring it.”
Later in the meeting, Halasz reported to Council that the HOPE House project in Buena Vista would soon begin receiving funding from the Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority as all three localities (Lexington, Buena Vista and Rockbridge County) had signed an operating agreement with the VOAA for the project. The plan is for the house to begin operation early next year.Crime Report
