The Music at Noon concert series at Lexington Presbyterian Church returns on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at noon, with a program of music on All Saints Day.
Joining keyboardist William McCorkle will be sopranos Christine Fairfield and Dasha Billias.
Music to be performed will include organ preludes on All Saints hymns, the song “Allerseelen” (“All Souls”), composed in 1885 by Richard Strauss, and three musical settings of the text “Pie Jesu, Domine, dona eis requiem” (“Merciful Lord Jesus, grant them rest”), a prayer from the liturgical Requiem service.
Fairfield will sing two “Pie Jesu” settings, one well-known, from the “Requiem” (1890) of French composer, Gabriel Fauré, and the other, too rarely heard, version (1918) by French composer Lili Boulanger.
Fairfield and Billias will join in singing “Pie Jesu” from the “Requiem” of Andrew Lloyd Webber (1984).
In a second program, on Dec. 21, McCorkle will offer pieces on Christmas melodies.
More Music at Noon concerts are planned for the weeks of Advent between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
