Monday, Jan. 2 – Youths from kindergarten through eighth grade are encouraged to compete in the Yosemite Sam King of the Hill K-8 Wrestling Tournament on Sunday at Parry McCluer High School.
Registration is on www.trackwrestling.com and is due by Saturday at 6 p.m. The cost is $25 per wrestling, and payments are to be made at the door. Each wrestler must have a USA Wrestling card, and there are no double brackets.
Weigh-ins will start at be from 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Sunday, and wrestling will start at 10 a.m.
The tournament will be in round round-robin format, in which each grappler faces the competition, and the wrestler with the best record wins. Wrestlers will follow Virginia High School League rules.
The divisions, separate for boys and girls, are kindergarten through second grade, grades 3-5, grades 6-8. There will be medals for first, second and third place.
