Community Bible Study this week at Lexington Presbyterian Church will not take place this week.
This Sunday, Jan. 8, there will be a congregational meeting at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church after church to vote on the budget, the terms of call, and to elect elders for this coming year.
During January we will be collecting items to make education kits. You may bring individual items or complete a kit. There will be a basket at church for the items. Needs are as follows:
• One pair of blunt scissors removed from the package (rounded tip, only); three 70-count bound notebooks or notebooks totaling 200-210 pages (no loose-leaf or filler paper); one 30-centimeter / 12” ruler; one hand-held pencil sharpener removed from the package; one large eraser (no pencil cap erasers); six new, unsharpened pencils with erasers (removed from packing and use a rubber band to hold the pencils together); one box of 24 crayons (only 24); one 12”x14” to 14”x17” finished size cotton or lightweight canvas bag with handles.
Kerrs Creek Ruritan Club met at New Monmouth Dec. 20. Thanks to Tim and Vicki Hodges for preparing the ham for the meal and everyone that brought food. Thanks to Bill Jenkins for coordinating the teams for delivery of the Christmas Baskets. Thanks to everyone who made deliveries.
The club had Yankee Swap with some interesting gifts. Deb Jarrett won the prize for the ugliest sweater.
The Natural Bridge District Convention was held Nov. 19. Felicia Bush and Steve Donald attended. The club was awarded a bronze for Citizenship & Patriotism, Public Service & Transportation, Environment; and a Gold Certificate for Social Development. District officers are Cindy Durham, governor; Dianne Swink, lieutenant governor; Lynn Zangari, treasurer; and Tommy Hunter, secretary.
