The community would like to thank the seven area churches for sponsoring the trunk-or-treat event for local children and youths in the field across from the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department this past Saturday afternoon, Oct. 21.
Those churches were the Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown Presbyterian, Collierstown United Methodist. Oxford Presbyterian, Mt. Horeb United Methodist, Rapps Mill Church and United View Advent Christian Church.
Special thanks to those that supported the cakewalk fundraiser held during the trunk or treat event. Half of the proceeds from the cakewalk will be used to purchase the food supplies to be packaged at the community’s Rise Against Hunger Meal packing day to be held in the spring. The remaining half will be donated to the Challenger Baseball League for disabled children in Roanoke.
The community’s children, youths, and parents enjoyed a fun filled afternoon of games, treats, and seasonal activities. Thanks to all who contributed candy treats and financial gifts to make the afternoon so special.
The Collierstown United Methodist would like to thank all who came and enjoyed their fall spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday evening, Oct. 21.
Leading the 11 a.m. worship service at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Oct. 22, was the Rev. Bernard Bangley. The Collierstown Presbyterian Church will hold a final cleanup day of the buildings and grounds on Saturday, Oct. 28, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in preparation for the annual church dinner that will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
