The trunk-or-treat event in Glasgow will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Locher Pavilion, 515 9th St. Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable (nonexpired) food item to receive a ticket that’s good for a slice of pizza, chips, drink and s’mores. Those setting up trunks are asked to arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. There will be a prize for the best decorated trunk.
On Halloween Day, Main Street Lexington will sponsor the annual downtown trick-or-treating from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for children 12 and under.
Besides merchants handing out candy, the afternoon will feature live entertainment. Halestone Dance Studio will perform at 4 p.m., while the Rockbridge Ballet will take the stage at 4:30. Both performances will take place in the old Courthouse Square.
As a safety precaution, the central downtown streets will be closed to vehicle traffic to allow the safe passage of the little ones. Closed from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. will be Main Street from Preston Street to Henry Street; Washington Street from Randolph Street to Jefferson Street; and Nelson Street from Randolph Street to Jefferson Street. Members of the Lexington Police Department will be on hand to help direct the flow of pedestrians. Caution while driving is urged.
In Buena Vista on Halloween Day, Main Street Buena Vista and the city of Buena Vista will present the annual Spookacular from 4 to 6 p.m.
Businesses and organizations will be handing out candy to trick-ortreaters; there will be games and prizes, and a costume contest. Registration for the costume contest runs from 4 to 4:45 p.m., with the contest starting at 5.
