Monday, Oct. 30 -- Auburn defeated Parry McCluer High School 3-0 in the Region 1C volleyball quarterfinals in Riner.
The Eagles (22-3), who earned the No. 2 seed from the Mountain Empire District, secured a 25-6, 25-9, 25-14 victory to advance to Thursday's regional semifinals against either Bath County or Grayson County.
Sydney Mahaffey recorded two kills, one block and three digs for the Fighting Blues, seeded third out of the Pioneer District. Logan Vest tallied five digs for PM, and Natalie Mohler finished with two assists and three digs.
The Blues complete the year with a 9-10 overall record. They finished second in the Pioneer in the regular season, posting an 8-2 mark in district play.
