Jan. 27, 2023 Editor, The News-Gazette: The General Assembly is in session right now; are you aware of how our state senator, Creigh Deeds, is voting? Check out his Twitter page (@ CreighDeeds).
On voting issues, he’s against an ID to vote. He’s for a permanent absentee voter request (i.e., you never have to go vote in person again — great for seniors like myself who may develop dementia or those who move out of our district!). He wants to keep early voting 45 days before Election Day — great if you simply vote by party, not so great if you want all the info before you vote. He’s against having a unique bar code on all Virginia state and federal ballots, he loves drop boxes (and mules?), and more.
Also, Senator Deeds has no problem with China buying property and doing business in Virginia. Senator Deeds is totally behind more gun restrictions in Virginia. Senator Deeds is in favor of the state government setting prices for drugs (what’s next?). Senator Deeds is a big green energy guy.
Particularly on the voting issues, I wonder how Senator Deeds has been able to stay in office since 1992 (30 years!) when, until 2020, we had such “strict” voting regs in Virginia!
If you disagree with Senator Deeds, let him know ASAP and remind him that he is to represent what you want! SUSAN WOOD Glasgow
