We welcomed back the Rev. Margie Anderson of Big Island who delivered the message this past Sunday at High Bridge Presbyterian Church. Next Sunday, Nov. 5, the guest speaker will be Linda Trumbo.

Visitors at church Sunday were Caroline and Lelah Braford who were spending the weekend with their grandparents, Bill and Lea Bradford. Cathy Gilbert’s mother and sister, Jayne and Lisa, Betsy Shepard’s grandson, and two Virginia Military Institute cadets were also visitors.

The evening circle meets Tuesday, Nov. 7, in the church fellowship hall at 6 p.m. Bible study will be led by Dwinnie Shafer. Members will prepare college goodie bags. The afternoon circle will meet Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m. with Sue Braford.

The chili cook-off will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, in the church fellowship hall.

At the congregational meeting Sunday, Oct. 22, the following members were elected to serve as a nominating committee for church officers class of 2026: Elders Lea Braford, Bob Gilbert and Sheryl West; Deacons Donna Lotts, John McCoy and Tracy Tackett; member-at-large – Betsy Shepard; Presbyterian Women – Tracy Tackett; Youth – Aaron Black. This committee will report back with a slate of officers at a date to be announced.

Weekday Religious Education will host a themed basket bingo (a total of 12 baskets) on Nov. 4 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Natural Bridge Fire Department. This will include bingo, a bake sale and door prizes. Come out and support WRE and enjoy the fun and fellowship.

Thanks to everyone who came out to participate in the Natural Bridge Ruritan Club Halloween raffle/cakewalk at the Natural Bridge firehouse on Oct. 28 A memorial service for Cora Lewis will be held Friday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. at High Bridge Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow at the fellowship hall.

Brenda Shafer has recently returned from a sixday Abbott bus tour. She spent three days touring Mackinac Island in Michigan. On the way home, they toured a glass factory in Ohio. Joining Brenda that day was her cousin Harper Anderson of Kentucky. His grandparents were the late Charley and Pauline Hunter of Fancy Hill who owned the land that is now the Virginia Safari Park.

Wayne Lee and Annette Hickman and their daughter, Carol Ann Conner, recently visited Wayne’s brother and wife, John and Marion Hickman, in Richmond.

The Natural Bridge/Glasgow food pantry will be open Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 to 11 a.m.
