Editor, The News-Gazette: Susan Wood wrote that she was “shocked” that local Democrats selected Jade Harris as their candidate, questioning her age, financial management skills, and experience in government. You can’t have the latter until you’re elected but Miss Harris majored in political science in college.
The accusation about finances is personal and unfounded, and comes from the political party who selected a presidential candidate who allowed multiple businesses to go bankrupt on purpose while he continued to lie about the value of his buildings to secure more loans he had no intent to repay.
In addition Trump had no experience in government and was elected to the highest office in the land.
I like to look for a heart for service. Jade has that in abundance. Some politicians have no heart at all.
I look for family values. Jade was taught about hard work for honest pay from her parents just like mine. Affordable housing, food, and mental health care are central for her.
I don’t think the younger generation is the problem in politics. I think it’s the older generations who won’t retire, including Biden and Trump.
