Angeline “Angie” Marion Tasson Frey of Raphine walked through Heaven’s gates on Sunday morning, Oct. 29, 2023. There, she was reunited with the love of her life, Eugene Leonard Frey.
She was born Jan. 20, 1936, to Bruno Tasson and Catherine Lupino Tasson in Hooversville (Somerset County), Pa.
Angie grew up in Hooversville, where she graduated from Forbes High School in 1954. An active member of her school community, Angie was her class secretary as well as a member of the newspaper staff, yearbook staff and choir. She was also a majorette for the Forbes football team.
After graduating from Forbes High School, Angie moved to Bridgeton, N.J., where she found employment at Owens-Illinois. It was there that she met Eugene, her husband of 66 years. They were joined in matrimony on Feb. 11, 1956, opening a new chapter to their never-ending love story. Angie and Eugene resided in Ohio, North Carolina, New Jersey, and West Virginia before settling in Raphine.
Angie was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro and an avid supporter of the Parry McCluer Fighting Blues and Eastern Mennonite University Royals. She loved playing bingo, card games, and spending time with her family and friends.
Left to cherish Angie’s memory are her daughter, Kimberly Loy (Ron); son, Eugene Frey (Lyssa); grandchildren, Brandi Heiston (Michael), Bryan Loy (Lindsey), Tyler Frey and Eric Frey; and three great-grandchildren, Violet Mae Heiston, Addie Elizabeth Loy and Teagan James Loy. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Harriet Thon, InaBelle Corcoran (Steve), Nancy Dean (Jimmy), Millie Tasson and Ruth Tasson; special friend, Veronica Gutowski; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved German Shepherd, Angel.
In addition to her husband and parents, Angie was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Carbone, Catherine Kolonich, Rose Kolonich, Elizabeth Scribner, Mary Short; and brothers, Anthony Tasson, Bruno Tasson and Joseph Tasson; and two siblings who died as infants.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Havenwood Assisted Living and ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour before the service.
