JOSEPH KAYTON

Joseph William Kayton, 69, of Rockbridge Baths passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023.

Surviving Joe are his wife of 43 years, Donna Coleman Kayton; his son, Joshua Stuart Kayton, and daughter, Rachel Ellen Kayton, both of Rockbridge Baths; his sisters, Jennie Gaines and Diane Higgins (Freddie); his nephews and niece; father-in-law William E. “Bill” Coleman Sr.; and brother-in-law William E. “Buddy” Coleman Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Golden T. Kayton and Gladys C. Kayton; brother-in-law, Frank Gaines; and mother-in-law, Marilyn Coleman.

Joe was a graduate of Lexington High School and was employed at VDOT, retiring after 45 years of service.

Spring was his favorite time of year when he would start planting his vegetable garden. He loved putting up Christmas lights for the neighborhood to enjoy. Joe loved his Jack Russells, Tucker, Annie and Rusty. He leaves behind his dog Lucy, who misses her daily rides with him.

A memorial service was conducted Saturday, Oct. 28, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. David Bain. Memorial contributions may be made to ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, VA 24450.
