Margaret A. Vest, 100, of Lexington died Nov. 7

Margaret A. “Cushie” Vest, 100, of Lexington, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, at the home of her daughter in Rockingham.

She was born May 26, 1923, and was the daughter of the late George and Rose Ayres of Lexington.

Ms. Vest retired from James Lee’s manufacturing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, a nephew, her eldest daughter Carolyn V. Higginbotham, and son-in-law A. T. Higginbotham.

She is survived by her daughter Karla V. Irving and husband David of Rockingham; grandchildren, Kristy Higginbotham and Gary Higginbotham of Buena Vista; niece, Roberta Ayres of Lexington; and many beloved friends, including her best friend Shirley Wingfield of Kentucky.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, at 1 p.m. at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens in Lexington with the Rev. Ann Held and the Rev. Roxanne Atwood officiating.
