On Nov. 17, the RCHS journalism class will host its annual talent show in the RCHS auditorium. The doors open at 5:45 p.m. and the show starts at 6:15. Tickets are available for $5 presale or $7 at the door. Contact Mary Holton at Mary_Holton@rockbridge. k12.va.us for more information.

The deadline is fast approaching for students to apply for Governor’s School, an experience where current high school sophomores and juniors can receive intensive education experiences in visual humanities; mathematics, science and technology. Applicants chosen will be able to live on a college or university campus for up to four weeks during summer while learning about their topic of interest. Students attending Governor’s School are involved in classroom and laboratory work, field studies, research, and individual and group projects and performances. Applications are due Dec. 19. Recently, 32 RCHS band members were accepted into All District Choir and All Area Band for the 2023 season. In order to do this, they were tasked with creating and performing a piece for judges. The following were chosen for All District Choir: Cassandra Silver, Lynette Salins, Haedyn Hartless, Jaxon Johnson, Quinn Fountain. The following were chosen for All Area Band: Rowan Moles, Lanaya Clubb, Sierra Boxler, Bri Marando, Lynette Salins, Haedyn Hartless, Cody Harding, Thomas Ayoub-Winder, Willow Moles, Kathy Braford, Bella Fitch, Daniel Grow, Will Gibbs, Kadence Salins, Cindylou McNeil, James Baker, Dmitriy Billias, Vaelyn Drake, Calvin Clark, Sammy Eastwood, Ezra Kelland, Zach LaRiviere, Partick McIntyre, Nic Faulds, Liam Courtney Collins, Sydney Hartman and Quinn Fountain.
