Speaking at the 11 a.m. worship service at Collierstown Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Nov. 12, was Burr Datz. The Presbyterian Women of Collierstown Presbyterian Church continue to give thanks for the tremendous support given to the annual church dinner and bazaar held Saturday, Nov. 4. In addition to the 1,002 meals served, the bazaar proceeds totaled $2,650 and will be donated to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Rockbridge and to Helping Hands, a food bank ministry of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church, as each continue to support youth programming and families with food needs in Rockbridge County.

As December draws closer, the Palmer Community Center and the Effinger Ruritan Club invite residents and friends of the Buffalo and Effinger communities to attend the Christmas covereddish dinner on Sunday, Dec. 3 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Palmer Center. A time of fellowship and the singing of favorite Christmas carols will follow the evening meal.

Word has been received that Santa is coming to Collierstown on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. He will make a stop in the field across from the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department beside the former Effinger School. Children will be able to drop off their letters and talk with Santa. A photographer will be taking free professional photos of the children visiting with Santa. Santa’s visit is being hosted by the community’s seven churches ‒ Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown Presbyterian, Collierstown United Methodist, Mt. Horeb United Methodist, Oxford Presbyterian, Rapps Mill Church and the Union View Advent Christian Churches. Be sure to have your calendar marked and come enjoy some holiday fun.
