Carolyn Bradley, 540-258-2720 We were saddened to hear of the death this week of a former town employee, Jimmy Emore. He had been retired for a number of years, and was in declining health. His wife, Betty, had a bad fall recently and is in a nursing home for rehab. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and the family during this time.

A burn ban is in effect for our area due to the extreme dryness. Smoke from a forest fire can be seen on the mountain in the Snowden area this Monday morning, and a helicopter with water bucket could be seen flying over as well.

Upcoming events in town include the Christmas parade scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2. Also, the Toys for Tots campaign for our area is underway. Please donate new toys, or money to purchase toys, at Town Hall during business hours.
