Melvin Henry Sorrells, 93, of Lexington died Nov. 16

Melvin Henry Sorrells, 93, of Lexington died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at his home.

Born Sept. 7, 1930, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Freeman Rupert Sorrells and Lula Gladys Fix Sorrells.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Sorrells; son Phillip Belcher; and daughter-in-law Becki Sorrells.

Melvin was a member of Lauderdale A.R. Presbyterian Church and owner of Mel's Tire Shop 24 years.

Surviving are his children, Danny Sorrells (Linda), Sam Sorrells (Wanda), Maverick Sorrells, Jean Belcher Gadd (Stephen Tatum Orr), Mike Warren (Renee'), Pam Lipscomb (Greg), Stephanie Fuller (Dean), and Bill Warren;  sister, Shelvie May; one daughter-in-law, Linda Belcher; 20 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren, plus one that will be here in February.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Benjamin Dowling and Mike Warren. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour before the service.
