Ralph Eugene Goodbar, 83, of Lexington died Nov. 18

Ralph Eugene Goodbar, 83, of Lexington died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at Rocky Mount Health & Rehab.

Born April 26, 1940, in Lexington, he was a son of the late Harry Eugene Goodbar and Bessie Radar Goodbar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Jane Robinson Goodbar.

He was a member of Lauderdale A.R. Presbyterian Church and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Ralph retired from Kroger as a courtesy clerk and had been employed in his earlier years at Reeves Brothers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and VMI football and basketball games with his son.

Surviving are his son, Darryl Goodbar and wife Susan; siblings, Danny Goodbar (Marilyn), Jerry Goodbar (Christine), Barbara Nuckols (Maynard) and Freddie Goodbar (Amanda); and leaves behind a host of friends. Many thanks to the staff at Rocky Mount Health & Rehab for the wonderful care they gave Ralph.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by Pastor John Tilley, the Rev. Benjamin Dowling and Pastor Kent Lundy. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Marlbrook Baptist Church, 6926 N. Lee Hwy, Raphine, VA 24472 or Lauderdale ARP Church, 300 S. Main St., Lexington, VA 24450.
