The Festival of First Fruits was celebrated at Oxford Presbyterian Church on Sunday morning, Nov. 19. This is a special time to be thankful for all the blessings we have been given including the harvest of fruits. The following individuals brought items to the alter for the Rev. Rob Sherrard to bless: B obby Black, apples; Emily Conroy, flowers; Dave Yawars, bread; Greg Sellers, ears of corn; and Rufus Tyree, pumpkin. After the service a bountiful lunch was held in the fellowship hall.

The Palmer Community Center and the Effinger Ruritan Club will host the annual Christmas covered-dish dinner and carol singing on Sunday evening, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m. Ham and turkey will be provided.

Congratulations and best wishes go to Christian Davis and Sophie Burkhordt who were married at Oxford Church on Saturday, Nov. 18.
