The Effinger Community Thanksgiving Service was held on Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Palmer Community Center. Pastor Nathaniel Rutan of the Union View Advent Christian Church led the service and delivered the evening’s message. Twentyfour adults and children joined together to worship and give thanks. A time of fellowship was enjoyed following the service. The Effinger Ruritan Club hosted the event.
Residents and friends of the Buffalo and Effinger communities are invited to attend the annual Christmas dinner at the Palmer Community Center on Sunday, Dec. 3, beginning at 5 p.m. A time of fellowship and the singing of favorite Christmas carols will follow the evening meal. Those attending are asked to bring a favorite side dish, salad or dessert to share. The main entrée and beverages will be provided. The event is sponsored by the Palmer Community Center and the Effinger Ruritan Club.
Santa is coming to Collierstown on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. He will make a stop in the field across from the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department beside the former Effinger school. Children will be able to drop off their letters to Santa and talk with him. A photographer will be taking free professional photos of the children visiting with Santa. This event is being hosted by the community’s seven churches ‒ Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown Presbyterian, Collierstown United Methodist, Mt. Horeb United Methodist, Oxford Presbyterian, Rapps Mill Church and the Union View Advent Christian Churches. Be sure to save the date and come enjoy some holiday fun.
The Effinger Volunteer Fire Department will host a Christmas dance on Saturday evening, Dec. 16, from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. Music will be provided by The Worx. The doors will open at 8 p.m. Patrons must have tickets in hand for admission. The cost of a ticket is $25 per person and patrons must be 21 years old. Tickets may be purchased by calling (540) 460-3980.
