The Rockbridge Youth Chorale will present its fall concert on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 7:30 pm at Grace Episcopal Church. Admission to the RYC concerts is a suggested minimum donation of $5/ student or child, $10/adult, or $25/family. The community is invited to share in this special night of music making.
The concert will feature the youth choir directed by Lacey Lynch, children’s choir directed by Dr. Anna Billias and the kids music class instructed by Annie Thomas. Special guests include puppeteers, dancers and musicians from Boxerwood, Anna Waters on clarinet, Duncan Hart on violin and Heather Haseya on cello.
A sampling of some of the pieces for this concert include “Chrissimas Day,” a delightful Southern Appalachian Folk Song arranged by ShirleyW. McRae; a lively arrangement of “I Saw Three Ships” arranged by Craig Curry featuring handbells; “Hazrat Bibi Mariam,” a song for peace incorporating movement and percussion; “After the Storm” by Martha Burford with guest puppeteers and musicians from the Boxerwood Spectacle; “Ding, Dong! Merrily on High,” the traditional French carol arranged by Ken Berg; and “All On a Silent Night,” a lovely partner song between the traditional German carol “Silent Night” and an original composed melody by Becki Slagle Mayo.
