Gifts of Nature Workshop At Boxerwood

Boxerwood’s annual Gifts of Nature workshop will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 1 to 5 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring friends and family to craft decorations that feed the winter birds and spruce up your home, inside and out.

Those taking part will twist honeysuckle and grapevine into wreaths or swags, and then tie on birdhealthy treats, such as cranberry garlands, dried fruit kabobs, peanut-buttered pinecones, and suet-filled citrus cups.

A crafts table will be stocked for making oneof- a-kind gifts of nature. Boxerwood will provide vines, cones, winter berries and greenery, as well as suet, raffia, ribbon and other project supplies. Families are asked to bring one type of wildlife food, such as birdseed, nuts in shells, dried fruits, popcorn or fresh cranberries to share with other participants.

Family fee to participate is $5 for Boxerwood member families or $10 for non-member families. The workshop will take place outdoors under the big pavilion and on the lawn area in front of the lodge. Dress for whatever the weather may be. “We’ll have a wood fire and warm cider to help keep everyone warm and spirits high,” said a spokesperson.

Rain makeup date is Sunday, Dec. 10. Boxerwood Nature Center is located at 963 Ross Road in Lexington. For more information or weather update, visit Boxerwood on Facebook, @loveboxerwood, or www. boxerwood.org, or call (540) 463-2697.
