Two visitor-favorite events are returning to Natural Bridge State Park this holiday season: Festival of Trees and Luminary Lights.
Starting Nov. 24, trees decorated by area businesses will be on display throughout the visitor center. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors are invited to take a self-guided tour of the trees and vote on their favorite. Votes are cast by purchasing a ballot or placing a donation under the tree for the Natural Bridge/Glasgow Food Pantry or ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice.
Suggested donations include nonperishable food items, throw blankets, travel-size pillows, towels and washcloths, twin sheet sets, books (audio and large print) and personal care items, such as body wash and lotion.
The tree with the most ballots and donations by Dec. 31 will be named the winner. There is no charge to view the trees.
In addition to the Festival of Trees, the park is hosting its annual Luminary Nights, sponsored in part by Rockbridge Area Tourism, Dec. 8-10 and Dec. 15-17. Visitors can take an after-dark stroll along the illuminated Cedar Creek Trail to the Natural Bridge, which will be lit up in festive colors.
Regular admission applies for Luminary Nights: $9 for ages 13 and up and $6 for ages 12 and younger. Horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered on Sundays. Reservations are required, and rides cost $20 per person. This price includes park admission.
