The annual Christmas parade and toy drive are being planned for Glasgow this holiday season.
The parade, sponsored by the Glasgow Lifesaving and First Aid Crew, will take place on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m.
Lineup begins at 3 p.m. at the corner of 10th Street and Rockbridge Road (Va. 130) beside the carwash across from the fire department.
This year’s theme is “Songs and Sounds of Christmas.” The grand marshal will be Wayne Hickman, representing the Glasgow-Natural Bridge Food Pantry. Members of the Glasgow Garden Club have also been invited to take part in the parade and be recognized for the hard work they have put into the renewing of Centennial Park.
The parade will follow its usual route, entering Va. 130 from 12th Street and proceeding to Blueridge Road, and ending on Powhatan Street one street above the first aid building where Santa will be on hand to speak to the children, refreshments will be provided, and parade awards will be presented.
There is no fee, nor preregistration, to participate in the parade. For further information, call parade coordinator Larry Spangler at (540) 460-6903.
The town of Glasgow will sponsor the annual Toys for Tots for the Glasgow community with the give-away date sometime in mid-December, usually the same day as food pick-up at the Glasgow-Natural Bridge Food Pantry. The exact date will be announced. Meanwhile, new toys or monetary donations can be dropped off at Town Hall during business hours.
