Friday, Dec. 1, will be a big moment for Nelson Gallery.
On Dec. 1, 1998, about a dozen artists decided that Lexington needed a second art gallery (Artists in Cahoots was the first).
They rented former office space on Nelson Street, painted the walls (one large room), hung their art, crossed their fingers and opened for business. The gamble paid off and now Nelson Gallery is celebrating its 25th birthday with a party and have invited as many of the original group as they could find, including Dorothy Blackwell, Paisley Griffen, Susan Harb, Barbara Crawford and Lee Sauder.
The party will start at 5 p.m. at the gallery at 27 W. Washington St.
