Earlier this month, the Chessie Nature Trail hosted over 600 runners from all over the country to Run the Chessie. The marathon is now a Boston qualifier, and the race was part of the 2023 USATF Virginia Fall Distance Running Grand Prix.
“None of it would have been possible without our many fantastic volunteers and sponsors,” said Dr. Colleen Arnold, board member of Friends of the Chessie Trail.
“Thank you to the 50 volunteers who braved a very dark, cold morning to help and the many who worked tirelessly even before race day,” she said.
The board would also like to thank the major sponsors: Augusta Health, Blue Ridge Eye Associates of Rockbridge County, Lex Running Shop, Rockbridge Regional Tourism, Walkabout Outfitters.
