Thanksgiving was different for many of us this year, but still lots to be grateful for, especially for the abundance of rain that helped put out the massive Matts Creek fire. We’re also grateful for the many firefighters from near and far who worked many hours to contain the fire, and for the folks who help feed them a nice Thanksgiving dinner.
This past week, the town lost another long-time citizen, and former town councilman, Boyd Walker. Continue to lift his family in prayer, and other families in town who have recently lost loved ones as we face the holiday season with an empty chair at the table.
The annual Christmas parade in Glasgow will take place this Saturday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m., following the usual route through town and ending at the town shop, a block above the first aid building where Santa will be on hand for the children and parents. There will be refreshments, and presentation of parade awards. This year’s theme is “Songs and Sounds of Christmas.”
A Christmas bazaar is planned for Saturday, Dec. 9, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Bridge Christian Academy, at the Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship Church at Natural Bridge Station. There will be lots of vendors for your shopping convenience, and you can have breakfast with Santa beginning at 9 a.m.
Try something different this year with your Christmas décor. Instead of “Elf on the Shelf” moving about during December, help Joseph and Mary move about on their journey to Bethlehem. If you have a small Nativity set up, place Joseph and Mary in various places around the house, and if you’re on Facebook, take a photo of them and share. Have the couple arrive at the little stable on Christmas Eve where Mary will give birth to baby Jesus. This can be learning tool for children, and a good reminder for us adults of what Christmas is all about.
