The city of Lexington will host a meeting for citizens of the Diamond Hill area to offer observations and suggestions to address parking issues on the streets in that part of the city.
At the meeting, which will be held at the Lexington City Schools administration building at 300 Diamond St. on Dec. 6, Lexington City Manager Jim Halasz and Police Chief Angela Greene will listen to citizen’s comments and will also offer some potential solutions to the issues, including potential amendments to city ordinances to help address the issue.
Halasz told The News-Gazette on Monday that over the course of several months, residents of the Diamond Hill area have raised concerns regarding the limited on-street parking being taken up by people who don’t live in the neighborhood. Efforts to enforce the current city ordinance only allowing vehicles to be parked in the same place on a city street for no more than five continuous days have been stepped up, but some people are simply moving their vehicles before the five day limit is up.
“Our goal is to get input so that we may be able to better serve the residents of this neighborhood and support their need for convenient parking,” Halasz told The News-Gazette.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
