MGCC Offering Two IT Courses

Mountain Gateway Community College is introducing two comprehensive courses designed for individuals seeking to kick start their journey in a dynamic career in Information Technology (IT): “Help Desk Support Skills” and “User Support/Help Desk Principles,” both led by instructor James Mathias. Both courses are crafted to equip aspiring professionals with the foundational knowledge and skills essential for entry-level positions in the IT industry.

Mountain Gateway Community College is introducing two comprehensive courses designed for individuals seeking to kick start their journey in a dynamic career in Information Technology (IT): “Help Desk Support Skills” and “User Support/Help Desk Principles,” both led by instructor James Mathias. Both courses are crafted to equip aspiring professionals with the foundational knowledge and skills essential for entry-level positions in the IT industry.

“Help Desk Support Skills: Empowering Entry-Level IT Enthusiasts” places a strong emphasis on customer support techniques necessary for analyzing and coordinating software and hardware solutions to meet end-user needs. Participants will dive into evaluation and communication techniques critical for providing help desk support, enabling the transfer of knowledge and implementation of solutions.

In “User Support/Help Desk Principles: Building the Foundation for Success,” students will be introduced to a spectrum of tools and techniques employed in providing user support in help desk operations, this course covers fundamental concepts essential for a successful career in IT support. Encompassing customer service skills, troubleshooting methodologies, effective communication, writing for end-users, help desk operations, needs analysis, software support, and facilities management, this course provides a comprehensive understanding of end-user support.

“The essence of these courses lies in offering a solid foundation for individuals venturing into the IT domain,” explained Mathias, a seasoned professional in the field. “We aim to equip aspiring professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge crucial for success in entry-level IT positions.”

Both 8-week courses will be conducted entirely online, providing participants with the flexibility to engage in learning from the comfort of their own space. The consecutive 8-week sessions ensure a structured and focused approach to mastering these essential entry-level IT skills.
