Rockbridge Bird Club invites area residents to join them for this month’s Second Saturday morning walk at Boxerwood on Dec. 9 at 8:30 a.m.
Boxerwood walks are an excellent introduction for those new to birding, said a spokesperson. At this time of year, participants will be looking and listening for species such as White-throated Sparrows, Ruby-crowned Kinglets and Hermit Thrushes that winter in Rockbridge.
Birders will meet in the parking lot at Boxerwood (963 Ross Road) at for a two-hour amble along the nature center’s woodland paths and field. Participants should dress for the weather, bring binoculars, and wear sturdy footwear.
In the event of inclement weather, walks will be canceled. For more information or iffy weather update, find Rockbridge Bird Club on Facebook or send email to [email protected].
