Cline Vote Against Expulsion Criticized

Dec. 3, 2023 Editor, The News-Gazette: Last Friday, after a bi-partisan vote of the House, George Santos, New York’s 5th District congressional representative, was formally expelled from Congress. Santos’ violations of ethical standards, not to mention likely 23 federal crimes, were too much for his colleagues.

Well, too much for the overwhelming majority of his colleagues. Naturally, Virginia’s 6th District Ben Cline voted against Santos’ expulsion. Cline’s “nay” vote echoed the votes of some of our nation’s luminous — by that I mean notorious — congressional representatives including “Jewish Space Lasers” Marjorie Taylor Green, Lauren “Vaping?” Boebert, and the consistently vile Matt “Internet Casanova” Gaetz.

I guess birds of a feather really do flock together. Still, Georgia, Colorado, Florida, and Virginia’s 6th all deserve better than these turkeys.
