Margaret Barger Phillips, 84, of Buena Vista died Dec. 9

Margaret Barger Phillips, 84, of Buena Vista, passed away Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at her home.

She was born July 13, 1939, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Charles L. Barger and Carrie Staton Barger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Ernest Phillips; and brothers, Thurman Barger and Petey Barger.

Surviving are her two daughters, Brenda P. Moneymaker and husband, Jerry, and Linda P. Knick and husband, Darryl; sister and best friend, Barbara Barger; four grandchildren, Anthony Eshaghi (Andrea), Ashley Barnett (Matt), Patrick Knick (Devin) and James Moneymaker (Carol); and great-grandchildren, Charlotte Moneymaker, Eden, Evy, and Abe Eshaghi, Kristin and Tyler Barnette, and Izzy Knick.
 

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Jay Thorne. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
