The Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team (2-3) fell 54-52 against Narrows in a Pioneer District matchup on Tuesday night in Buena Vista.
Levi Smith opened the scorebook for the Green Wave on the night with a three pointer.. With the score 6-6, Narrows’ Kolier Pruett made a three pointer to make the score 6-9. The first quarter ended 9-17 for Narrows.
JJ Jones scored a layup for the Blues to start the second quarter to cut Narrows’s lead to 11-17. The Green Wave extended their lead to 23-11. In the last minute before halftime, and Narrows up 27-16, the Blues cut into the lead with six consecutive points which included a Caden Henson three pointer. Narrows lead at half 27-22.
In the third quarter, points from Braedyn Houck, JJ Jones, Landon Catlett and Langston Cook all combined to put Parry McCluer in the lead, 36-34. The third quarter ended tied, 38-38, after Evan Cook scored a last second field goal.
The fourth quarter was filled with lead changes. Narrows’ Carter Holmes scored back to back three pointers to put Narrows in a 48-42 lead midway through the final quarter. In the last minute, with the score at 52-52, The Green Wave’s Elijah Knoetze scored a layup assisted by Kolier Pruett to win the game 54-52.
