Edith "Edie" Humphries died Dec. 17

Edith “Edie” (Wagner) Humphries was born on June 4, 1956, to Frances and Robert “Bobby” Wagner in Buena Vista. She passed away on Dec. 17, 2023, after suffering a long illness.

Edie was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Wagner, and is survived by her mother, Frances P. Wagner; her devoted husband, Ronnie; a son, John (Julie) and their daughter, Iris; a daughter, Ann; her sister, Carol Fauber (Danny) and their sons, Michael and Mitchel; along with her father-in-law, Bobby Humphries.

Edie was a lifetime resident of Buena Vista. After she graduated from Parry McCluer High School in 1974, she went on to study elementary education at Longwood College in Farmville. She began her teaching career in 1978 and was a dedicated educator in the Buena Vista City Public School System for 33 years. She often remarked that she had the absolute finest, most dignified mentors that helped her hone her skills and influence her as a teacher when she got her start in the BVCPS. Nothing delighted her more than to be fondly remembered by former students, parents of students, and colleagues.

Edie married her high school sweetheart, Ronnie Humphries, on June 24, 1978. Edie took great pride in her hometown community and was honored to serve her alma mater school system throughout her career. She was an avid Fighting Blues fan and was a life-long member of the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church. Edie will be remembered for her kind and fun-loving spirit, her love of music, her artistic talents, her dedication to her craft of teaching, and the great pride she took in her family and her community.

Services will be held at the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church on Friday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
