Following a preliminary hearing in Lexington General District Court last week, several charges against a Natural Bridge man have been certified to a Rockbridge County Circuit Court grand jury.
Dennis Wayne Orange, 34, of Natural Bridge, was arrested in August and charged with four felony charges – breaking and entering, grand larceny, larceny with intent to sell and wearing a mask to conceal identity – in connection with a break-in and theft at the Rockbridge Farmers Co-Op on Aug. 15. He was also arrested and charged with three felony counts of possession of burglary tools, three felony counts of attempted breaking and entering and three misdemeanor counts of property damage in connection to other attempted break-ins at buildings in the city, including the Rockbridge Area Relief Association building and the cemetery building.
A preliminary hearing on those charges was held in Lexington General District Court on Dec. 11, after which Judge Christopher Bilias certified all of the charges to the grand jury. Orange is also facing felony charges in Rockbridge County of grand larceny and breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny in connection with the theft of an ATV in the South Buffalo Area on Aug.19. A preliminary hearing on the county charges was held on Nov. 8, with Bilias certifying those charges to the grand jury as well.
The next Rockbridge grand jury will be held on Feb. 5.
