Our beloved mother and grandmother, Ruth Wood Garber, moved on to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023. She passed away peacefully at her home, with family members by her side.

She was born on March 18, 1934. She was preceded in death by her father, William H. Wood Sr.; mother, Arie Pultz Wood; sisters Lorene Gregory, Easter Mays and Frances Lawrence; and brother, William H. Wood Jr., all from Irish Creek.

She is survived by her sisters, Faye Hanger, Evelyn Entsminger (Milton) and Floyd Wood. Also surviving are her children, Barbara Derr, Steve Garber and wife Kathy, and Cheryl Garber, all from Irish Creek; eight grandchildren, Katie (Jamie), Jenny, Lauren, Megan (Jesse), Becky (Troy), Hilary (Richie), Josh and Allie; also 19 great-grandchildren and five great-greatgrandchildren. In addition, special niece Norma Jean, and her children Brandon and Ashley, who all lovingly know her as grandma; numerous other nieces and nephews; special caregiver and friend Timmy; and her beloved dog, Dezi.

Ruth was very much loved by her children and grandchildren, also by many, many friends. She loved the old country ways — growing a garden, cooking and sewing. She made many beautiful quilts and pillows. I think her favorite thing to do was fish. She fished along Irish Creek for most of her 89 years. I hope she has a creek and a fishing pole in heaven. We will all miss her dearly.

The funeral was Friday, Dec. 22, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Irish Creek, followed by burial in Irish Creek Cemetery. Pastor Chris Guyer and Pastor Wyatt Mayes conducted the services. N-G
