Help Sought in Search for Missing Cat in Lexington

Lexington residents are asked to keep an eye out for Martin, a cat who escaped from the Lexington Pet Place yesterday.

Martin was one of the cats available for adoption at the Pet Place through its partnership with the Furever Friends in Buena Vista.

Store owner Cindi Jacobs said he ran when his carrier broke as she prepared to take him to the vet.

Traps have been set around Lexington, and city officials have been advised to be on the lookout for him in the drainage or sewer systems, but so far no sightings have been reported.

Jacobs said Martin is quite skittish, and likely to run if approached by a stranger. She is “cautiously optimistic” about the search.

Sightings of Martin can be reported to the Pet Place, 540-461-8314, or texted to 540-748-8997 (Blue Ridge Reptile Rescue).
