RHODES VANCE

Rhodes Lafeyette Vance passed on to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023. He passed away suddenly, yet peacefully at home with his life companion, Lois Troxell, by his side at their Irish Creek home.

Rhodes Lafeyette Vance passed on to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023. He passed away suddenly, yet peacefully at home with his life companion, Lois Troxell, by his side at their Irish Creek home.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1949, in Holden, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his father, George Vance; mother, Audrey Burgess; canine companions Snickers and Fred, as well as many other pets and farm animals that he loved throughout his life.

Rhodes loved our Lord Jesus with all his heart and anyone who had the pleasure of spending any amount of time with him felt this love. He was a member of the Mountain City Masonic Lodge No. 67. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, was an avid cockfighter and a proud supporter of the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. With his wonderful sense of humor and keen wittiness, he was a joy to be around for all that loved him.

In addition to his loving friend, Lois, he is survived by his children, Denny Vance (Shon), Rachel Snyder (Kenny), Sarah Henson (Scott) and Kevin Marcum; grandchildren, Daniel Rebollozo, Jonathan Vance, Mary Frazier, Sydney Henson, Bradley Henson and Dakota Carter; siblings, Georgia Pippin, Katheryn Vance, Garfield Vance, George Adams, Betty Vance and Travis Vance; canine friends, Useless “Yute,” Bowser and Noire; as well as many other friends and family that loved him dearly.
