Dog Park Hearing Set

Lexington City Council will hold a public hearing on a proposed dog park on city-owned land between McCorkle Drive and the U.S. 11 bypass during its regular business meeting on Feb. 1. Council has also scheduled a work session to discuss the language of the proposed ordinance allowing accessory dwelling units within the city for Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.

City Manager Search Continues

The city of Lexington is still searching for a new city manager in anticipation of the retirement of current city manager Jim Halasz.

Mayor Frank Friedman reported at Council’s Dec. 21 meeting that the city’s “initial efforts did not produce the desired outcome,” and that the city would readvertise the position in the new year.

Halasz, who had originally planned to retire early this month, has agreed to remain in his position until a replacement can be found. An amendment to his contract to reflect that agreement will be presented to Council for approval at its next meeting on Jan. 18.
