Epiphany was celebrated at High Bridge Presbyterian Church Sunday with Holy Communion. Visitors at New Year’s Eve service were the grandchildren of Dane and Sheryl West, Luke and Claire of Baltimore, Md., and the grandchildren of E.G. and Betsey Shepherd, Harper and Morgan of Woodbridge.
High Bridge will host a chili cook-off on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 5 p.m. St. John’s Episcopal Church members will compete with High Bridge members and anyone is welcome to bring their own entry. If you don’t want to enter chili, bring a salad, bread, or dessert. The winner will receive a beautiful trophy designed by Kathy Gilbert.
The afternoon circle will now be meeting today at 1 in the church fellowship hall.
Officer training is now in progress with the Rev. Steve Willis leading the classes after church. They will be installed on Sunday, Jan. 21.
Beth Horon United Methodist Church ladies hosted the December Christmas Ruritan dinner. The following officers were installed at the meeting: Drake Breeden, president; Tim Manning, vice president; Wayne Breeden, treasurer; Garnette Teass, secretary; Debbie Dangerfield, one-year director; Linda Berkstresser, two-year director; and Shorty Berkstresser, three-year director. The Ruritan officers were sworn in by Janet Drake, zone governor.
The Natural Bridge/Glasgow food pantry will be open Saturday, Jan. 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. Looking ahead, the NB/ Glasgow food pantry board members will meet at Beth Horon United Methodist Church on Monday, Jan. 22, at 6 p.m.
