The High Bill Coming Due

America has an extremely high bill that is g rowi ng at an exorbitant rate that when it comes fully due will take a high cost in both treasure - and blood!

The bill is for the high cost of the Biden administration’s failed immigration policies. These policies began with Biden terminating the remain-in-Mexico policy for migrants and ending all construction of the border wall.

The cancelled border wall contracts resulted in costing millions for work contracted but not to be done. The materials that had already been purchased were left literally in piles along the border at a cost to the government of $130,000 a day to guard and protect the estimated $350 million worth of materials.

When this became known, the materials were put up for auction and sold for pennies on the dollar. The outcry resulted in the remaining $154 million of materials being transferred to the Department of Defense. The DoD finally, in April 2023, again put the materials up for auction and the fire sale of the materials continued even as the Biden administration indicated they were quietly going to actually continue building the wall! This waste of billions of taxpayer’s dollars is only a tiny picture of the overall cost of the Biden policies.

The ending of the remainin- Mexico for migrants awaiting process of their claims quickly became known and even promoted by the Biden administration and nongovernmental organizations (NGO’s) wanting to profit from the new policy of just letting in basically all migrants coming to the US.

Before long, border states became overwhelmed with migrants primarily from Central and South America. Instead of the Border Patrol having to deal with a few hundred migrants attempting to enter the country illegally, the numbers grew into the thousands literally turning themselves into overwhelmed facilities. The trickle became a major leak and soon a flood as migrant caravans reached the border.

Soon it was no longer migrants primarily from Latin Americas but from all over the world including people from countries hostile to the United States in Middle East, Africa, and even Communist China.

The number of migrants has skyrocketed. The Heritage Society, using census and other government statistics, has put the migrants and illegal immigrants currently in the country at around 14 million people!

Since Biden has taken office, immigration officials put the number of migrants not turning themselves in and avoiding Border Patrol or other immigration officials, the so-call “gotaways,” at 1.4 million individuals (others put the number at over 2 million).

Homeland Security studies reported about 389,000 “gotaways” were believed to have entered the country in 2021 and number increasing to about 530,000 in 2022. The number for 2023 is expected to be even higher.

The “gotaways” are drug and other smugglers, criminals wanted in other countries, and others with a need to get into the country with various reasons for not wanting to be detected. The overworked Border Patrol has become overwhelmed just processing, feeding and caring for the migrants rather than doing actual Border Patrol work. Yet, they still were able to catch 160 persons on the terrorist watchlist trying to enter the country in 2023, up from about 100 caught in 2022. How many did not get caught? It only took a small few of terrorists to cause 9-11.

The vetting of the migrants turning themselves in currently is basically taking the word of the migrants. These migrants are supposed to have hearings to determine whether they are truly qualifying for immigrant status. But the system is so overwhelmed that one migrant was recently given a form telling her she needs to appear in a New York court to determine her claim in April 2031!

But even if all of the migrants and “gotaways” are honest and potentially good citizens, the cost is going to be mind-boggling. Over 40 percent of the migrants have no education or very limited education and do not speak English. Most have limited skills. This is the making of a large new underclass after America had made tremendous strides in reducing poverty at a large cost to the taxpayers in the country prior to these mass migrations.

These migrants are going to sharply increase welfare and social costs to cities, states, and the national government. This at a time when the national debt has skyrocketed to over $33 trillion in the last few years due to Covid, overspending by the Congress and more recently by Biden administration’s inflationary policies.

Hospitals, schools, and law enforcement on the southern border have been overwhelmed by migrants and this problem is now spreading across the county, particularly in the bigger cities where migrants want to locate.

This humanitarian crisis did not have to happen and is going to be a problem with a very high cost in the years to come. Are we ready for this high cost? For you consideration.
