yesterday.

State police, working in conjunction with the state Attorney General’s Office, searched the zoo on Dec. 6 and 7, seizing over 90 animals, which remain in state custody.

The hearing, which will determine if ownership of these animals will be transferred to the state, began on Dec. 20, with Michelle Welch and the state Attorney General’s Office presenting evidence against zoo owners Karl and Debbie Mogensen.

While the second portion of the hearing was originally scheduled for Friday, Jan. 5, it was pushed to yesterday afternoon due to illness of one of the attorneys.

As this paper’s deadline is Tuesday afternoon, the story about the hearing will not appear until next week, though updates will be posted on the newspaper’s website at www.thenews-gazette.com.
