Political Signs Removed Promptly

Jan. 2, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette Congratulations to all of the candidates in these last local elections, winners and losers.

Thank you for stepping up to tackle the challenges, especially in the current, hyper-charged political atmosphere.

But the real winners are the voters, because unlike many (most?) past elections, by some miracle, the candidates promptly removed their campaign signs in a quick and timely manner. Not sure who lit a fire under them this year, or whether it was a collective decision by all involved, but it was a welcome relief from many past elections where some signs remained for weeks or even a month ... a truly lingering eyesore (let’s be honest).

Best of luck to those folks in new positions and those incumbents. We’d love to see a repeat performance of good stewardship of removing signs promptly in the next election.
