First Baptist Church in Lexington will host the MLK Community Worship Service on Sunday, Jan. 14, at 4 p.m. with guest speaker Dr. Paul Lowe.
Lowe has been the senior pastor at Shiloh Baptist Church in Winston Salem, N.C., for more than three decades and has served as the state senator for District 32 since 2015. As a state senator, he has been an effective civil rights champion and has paved a pathway of equality for all citizens of North Carolina, said a spokesman.
Lowe is an alumnus of Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, and Virginia Union University in Richmond, and he completed his doctorate at the Drew University in Madison, N.J.
At Sunday’s service, the Resurrecting Praise Community Choir in Clifton Forge will provide the music. Special tributes will be presented by law student Ebony Aiken and Dr. Anna Billias of Washington and Lee University.
