Jan. 12, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: Liberals this week were very about Rep. Cline’s endorsement of Donald Trump. The concern in coming out of Lexington was palpable. Really just off the chart concern… Let me tell you what those of us in the real world are concerned about. We can’t afford groceries. Food prices are over 20% higher than 2020. The Biden administration has spent more money in the first three years of a presidency than any in American history. Where did this money come from? The Federal Reserve printed it, ballooned the money supply, and created the worst inflation crises in our lifetimes.
Biden may brag about jobs “created,” but the labor force participation is lower today than the beginning of 2020. In short, government-mandated shutdowns destroyed millions of jobs for two years, now politicians in Washington want to take credit because the private sector is slowly recovering from the damage they inflicted.
Probably the starkest difference is the chaos seen around the globe as a result of a failure in leadership from the White House. For all the nonsense Democrats spewed for years about Trump’s relationship with Putin; the Russian dictator towed the line for the four years of his presidency.
Meanwhile, just one year of the bumbling mess of Biden’s foreign policy – most notably in the botched withdraw from Afghanistan – was all Putin needed to see to know that his ambitions in Eastern Europe were back on the table.
So, your concern for the fact the Trump bruises your liberal sensitivities really doesn’t mean much to the rest of us who are seeing our country fall apart while Biden is asleep at the wheel. Kudos to Ben Cline for the endorsement. ALLEN JEFFERSON Rockbridge Baths
