Tuesday, Jan. 23 -- The Parry McCluer High School girls basketball team stayed unbeaten in Pioneer District play and ran its overall winning streak to seven games with a 55-22 victory over Eastern Montgomery in Buena Vista.
Victoria Hamilton posted 17 points and eight rebounds as the Fighting Blues improved to 11-3 overall and 5-0 in the district. Natalie Mohler tallied 14 points for PM, sinking four 3-pointers, while Payton Emore tallied nine points, seven rebounds and eight assists.
Macie Akers paced the Mustangs (2-12, 1-3 Pioneer) with seven points and seven rebounds, while Ajia McHone recorded six points and four boards.
The Blues were in the zone early on, with Hamilton scoring nine points as part of a 15-0 run that put PM ahead 19-3 just past the midway point of the opening period. Mohler also sank three of her triples in the first quarter, which ended with the home side ahead 25-7.
PM extended its lead to 41-12 at halftime. Mohler and Emore scored all of their points in the first half, while Hamilton had 11 markers by the break.
Tatyana Turner chipped in seven points for PM, while Peira Conner snagged five rebounds. Mohler, Emory Slagle and Addisen Roberts each dished out three assists.
The Blues will travel to Highland County for another district contest on Thursday, with tip time set for 5:30 p.m.
